Lyle Lovett has mapped out an extensive summer tour that will see him headlining venues across the US from late June through mid-August.
Before he hits the road, the Texas troubadour will play a set of Austin shows May 5-6 with Guy Clark, Joe Ely and John Hiatt. Lovett's solo run, which kicks off June 24 in Westbury, NY, will visit US cities from coast to coast, as well as Vancouver, and stop for two nights in Milwaukee; Woodinville, WA; Saratoga, CA; and Fort Worth, TX. Following his eight-week solo trek, the singer/songwriter will hook up with Hiatt once again for a string of acoustic performances in September and October. Details are listed below.
Lovett's 13th album, "It's Not Big It's Large," surfaced last August and reached No. 18 on The Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart. The 12-track set features Lovett's signature Large Band and covers everything from country to blues, to folk, jazz and gospel. A deluxe version of the album including a DVD with studio footage is also available. A few song samples are streaming at the Grammy-winning singer's MySpace page.
"Its Not Big It's Large" follows Lovett's Lost Highway Records debut, "My Baby Don't Tolerate," which surfaced in 2003. That set marked his first collection of original material since 1996's "Road to Ensenada."
Lovett is also returning to the big screen this year, staring alongside Harry Dean Stanton, Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges in the comedy/drama "The Open Road," which is currently in production, according to The Internet Movie Database.
