Alkaline Trio anticipates 'Agony' with headlining run

Pop-punk outfit Alkaline Trio has lined up a short headlining run for late spring ahead of the band's forthcoming "Agony & Irony" LP, which hits stores in July.

The Chicago-based trio kicks off the tour May 30 in Edmonton, Alberta, with the remainder of the 14-city outing taking place in June.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets to the upcoming shows have been set aside for fans. More information can be found at the group's MySpace website.

"Agony & Irony," Alkaline Trio's sixth studio album, is due July 1 on Epic. The set is the group's first album of all-new material since 2005's "Crimson," which peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

An EP (also titled "Agony & Irony") featuring three tracks from the new album, including the lead single "Help Me," will hit online and traditional retailers Tuesday (4/22). "Help Me" is also streaming at the band's MySpace page.
