Dilated Peoples to lead Fresh Rhymes tour

Underground hip-hop group Dilated Peoples leads the first Fresh Rhymes and Videotape tour in June, presented by independent record label Decon.

The Los Angeles rap crew will be joined on the trek by 88-Keys , The Alchemist and Aceyalone on the trek. The 19-city outing kicks off June 2 in Seattle and will run throughout the month, concluding with a West Coast leg.

Tickets for the tour go on sale April 18; dates are below.

Decon plans to produce an EP after the tour featuring six collaborative tracks involving the trek's featured artists. Additionally, video director Jason Goldwatch (Damian Marley, Young Buck) will document the tour on film to create a short-format video, which will be released with the six-song CD, hence the "Videotape" portion of the event's title.

Dilated Peoples' most recent full-length, 2006's "20/20," represented the group's last album for Capitol Records before signing with Decon. The 2007 dual CD/DVD "The Release Party" documents the group's transition from indie act to major label artists and ultimate return to the indie world.

88-Keys, Decon's most recent signing, will use the tour to premiere material from his upcoming debut, "The Death of Album." The disc, which is due in stores in August, is executive produced by Kanye West, who makes a guest appearance on the CD's lead single, "Stay Up."
