Von Bondies return with new LP, tour

Indie-rockers The Von Bondies return from a three-year hiatus with a spring headlining tour and a new studio album, "Love, Hate and Then There's You."

The Detroit band kicks off the outing May 15 in Chicago, and will hit a total of 14 cities on the trek, which runs through early June. All dates are below.

The group has gone through several par-for-the-course lineup changes, but returns with frontman Jason Stollsteimer, longtime drummer Don Blum and bassist Leann Banks for "Love, Hate and Then There's You," The Von Bondies' third studio album and first since 2004's "Pawn Shoppe Heart."

"When we got off of touring 'Pawn Shoppe Heart,' we were so exhausted," Stollsteimer told Billboard.com recently. "In my own head, I was like, 'I don't want to ever do it again.' But these three years have revived my energy to do it again.

The band, which continues to shop the album to various record labels, hopes to release it later this year. The group released a four-song EP, "Detour," earlier this year through its MySpacepage.

Stollsteimer also plans to create a dual CD/DVD out of an Aug. 4 concert by his side-project, Hound Below, which he credited in the Billboard interview as "being a good outlet to help me write better lyrics and help me finish the Von Bondies record."
