Martina McBride , who is scheduled to wrap her "Waking Up Laughing" arena jaunt next month, will extend the trek to outdoor venues this summer.
The country star is set to perform at more than 25 amphitheaters across the US, beginning July 11 in Clarkston, MI. Texas-based singer/songwriter Jack Ingram will continue as a special guest on the outing, and newcomers Chris Young and Jason Michael Carroll will take turns in the opening slot. The itinerary is listed below.
McBride's "Waking Up Laughing" trek was one of the Top 10 tours across all genres for 2007, according to a press release. The album of the same name surfaced a year ago and debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. It has spawned McBride's fastest-selling single to date, "Anyway," as well as the radio hits "How I Feel" and "For These Times."
The Grammy-winning songstress is also getting ready to drop her first live album and DVD: "Martina McBride: Live in Concert," which is due April 29 and includes an eight-song CD and a DVD recorded last September at Moline, IL's i wireless Center. The film has been airing across the country this month on the PBS-TV series "Great Performances." A couple of song samples from the live CD are streaming at the singer's MySpace page.
McBride, a four-time Country Music Association Vocalist of the Year, is currently vying for her fourth Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year award. She has sold more than 16 million albums and charted 22 Top 10 singles in her 15-year career, according to her bio.
