Pemberton fest nabs Coldplay, Jay-Z, NIN, Tom Petty

Coldplay , Jay-Z and Nine Inch Nails are three of the acts organizers of the Pemberton Festival have tapped to headline the three-day Canadian outdoor music event.

The July 25-27 festival in the tiny British Columbia village (which is located a few miles north of the more well-known Pacific Northwest resort town of Whistler) boasts an impressive roster of musical entertainment, with additional acts including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Flaming Lips , Death Cab For Cutie, Interpol , Serj Tankian , My Morning Jacket and many others.

The complete lineup can be found at the festival's website.

More than 40,000 fans are expected to attend the festival, according to organizers.

"The setting is second to none," Shane Bourbonnais of event promoter Live Nation Canada told the Vancouver Sun newspaper. "I don't think there's a festival site that can compare to this one. You're at the base of Mount Currie and you're 25 minutes from world-class Whistler."

Tickets for the festival go on sale March 28, with separate charges for both festival admission and camping privileges. The standard three-day event ticket will initially run CDN $239.50, with camping fees adding another CDN $60 to the cost.

In what is an increasingly common move for large-scale outdoor music fests, Pemberton will emphasize an environmentally conscious theme, with the event's power grid being generated entirely through hydroelectric sources. The festival will also reward car-pooling by providing free parking for attendees who arrive with four or more people in one vehicle.

Local products will be sold throughout the 360-acre event site, and a farmer's market, featuring local produce and meat from nearby Pemberton Valley farms, is planned for the site.
