Pop group 98 Degrees will headline the fifth annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on Aug. 26 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. Teen-aged singer Jessica Simpson is also scheduled to perform at the event, which organizers claim has raised more than $1.5 million for charity over the last four years.
Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, named for the late tennis star, is the official kick-off event for the US Open tennis competition, which runs from Aug. 27- Sept. 10. Besides music, the day-long festival includes tennis clinics, interactive games and other events geared toward children.
Tickets are available through TeleCharge (1-888-OPENTIX) and the USTA National Tennis Center box office. The event benefits USA Tennis National Junior Tennis League, a program founded by Ashe in 1969 to provide tennis opportunities to economically disadvantaged youngsters.
