Spoon has confirmed initial dates for its April headlining tour, or what the band's publicist is calling a "victory lap of the United States."
The Austin, TX, alt-rockers kick off the outing April 2 in Kansas City, KS, and have currently confirmed 12 cities for the spring trek. Indie rockers The Walkmen and White Rabbit will provide support on most of the dates; check the group's official website for more information on specific shows.
The group continues to support last summer's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga," Spoon's sixth studio album and its follow-up to 2005's "Gimme Fiction." A limited-edition version of the album that includes a bonus disc titled "Get Nice!" was released concurrently with the regular version. The bonus disc features a handful of instrumental songs, along with a few demos.
The album, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart, was named on many critic's year-end lists, including LiveDaily's aggregate tally, which crowned it the best album of 2007.
Several tracks from the band's latest effort (as well as selected songs from throughout the band's career) are streaming at Spoon's website. The band has also made available as a free download a live version of the song "Paper Tiger" recorded in Sydney, Australia in 2005.
