Brad Paisley and Sugarland lead the pack of artists vying for trophies at the 2008 CMT Music Awards , the winners of which will be determined by fan voting.
Paisley has racked up a total of six nominations for his music video for "Online," a cut that appears on his latest album, last year's "5th Gear." Categories in which the video is competing include Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and Comedy Video of the Year. The clip also has laid claim to three slots in the Supporting Character of the Year category, one each for actors Jason Alexander, Maureen McCormick and William Shatner, all of whom appear in the video.
Sugarland, meanwhile, stands to win a total of five awards, four of which are in play thanks to the group's video for the song "Stay," including Video of the Year, Tearjerker Video of the Year and Best Duo Video of the Year; the band's competition in the latter category includes its own video for another cut, "Everyday America." The trio is also vying for Performance of the Year for its live rendition of "Stay" during last year's CMT Music Awards ceremony.
The initial list of nominees, which is included below, will be whittled down via fan voting that begins today (2/5) at CMT's website and runs through Feb. 25, according to organizers. Once the polls close, votes will be tabulated and the final four nominees in each category will be announced March 6, on which date a new round of fan voting will get underway at the CMT website through April 11.
The winners will be named during CMT's live broadcast of the 2008 CMT Music Awards ceremony, set to take place April 14 at Nashville's Curb Event Center.
