Reggae-rockers 311 have booked a short US tour leading up to their biggest annual event: 3-11 Day in New Orleans.
The band expects to play about 10 shows during the US outing, which is scheduled to kick off Feb. 22 in Las Vegas. So far, concerts are also confirmed in Tulsa, OK; Richmond, VA; Cypress, FL; and Tallahassee, FL. The trek will culminate March 11 with 3-11 Day at the New Orleans Arena. Dates are listed below.
The Crescent City event is billed as "The Ultimate 311 Concert Experience," with the band playing an extended set and including some special surprises, according to its website. The last 3-11 Day drew fans from 48 US states and five other countries, the band said.
Meanwhile, the Omaha-bred rockers have been holed up in their Los Angeles Hive Studio working on their next album. The members are in the initial writing stages, so there's no word on a release date as of yet.
311 completed a major US tour over the summer to support its eighth studio album, 2005's "Don't Tread on Me," which reached No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and scored a modern-rock hit with the title track.
The band--which has been making its brand of rock, reggae, hip-hop and funk music for more than 17 years--built a grassroots following early in its career through relentless touring and dynamic live shows, and has since sold more than 7 million albums in the US, according to a statement.
