Foo Fighters pile on the dates

The Foo Fighters continue to ramp up their 2008 North American tour, with seven US dates added to the itinerary since last check.

The trek is now scheduled to kick off Jan. 16 in Sunrise, FL, and includes a Feb. 19 stop at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Arena shows have also been added in Orlando; Birmingham, AL; Pensacola, FL; Houston; and Minneapolis.

The latest round of dates go on sale this weekend. Previously, the Foo Fighters revealed shows in the southern and eastern US as well as an eight-city run across Canada. The full itinerary is listed below.

The Grammy-winning rockers also recently announced a string of shows in Australia and New Zealand in April and May. Those gigs will be followed by a two-night stand June 6-7 at London's Wembley Stadium that has already sold out, according to the band's website. The Foos have made quite an impression on the UK lately, having recently wrapped a sold-out tour with two nights at the O2 arena. Upcoming overseas performances can be found at the band's website.

The Foo Fighters are supporting their sixth studio effort, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 in September. Lead single "The Pretender" continues to top the modern rock chart after 16 weeks. That song and the Foo Fighters' latest single, "Long Road to Ruin," are streaming at the group's MySpace page.

"Echoes" follows the band's 2005 platinum-selling double-album, "In Your Honor," which spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Best of You" and led to the band's biggest-selling tour to date, according to a press release.

The Foos also recently remastered and reissued their 1997 double-platinum seller, "The Colour and the Shape," as a 10th anniversary deluxe edition with six bonus tracks.
