Alicia Keys dominates album chart
It was a banner week for Alicia Keys , whose new album "As I Am" sold a whopping 742,000 copies during its first week in stores.
That figure represents the highest number of copies sold in a single week by a female artist since Norah Jones ' "Feels Like Home" moved 1 million copies in 2004, according to Billboard.
Running a distant second behind Keys is Josh Groban 's "Noel," which sold about 223,000 copies and managed to jump from No. 6 to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, which is based on Nielsen SoundScan figures.
Celine Dion 's "Taking Chances" makes its debut at No. 3 on sales of about 214,000 copies, while the hits compilation "Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 26" clocks in at No. 4 after moving about 208,000 copies. Garth Brooks ' "The Ultimate Hits," meanwhile, slips from No. 3 to No. 5 after selling about 204,000 copies.
Rounding out the Top 10 are the Eagles ' "Long Road Out of Eden" at No. 6, Led Zeppelin 's "Mothership" at No. 7, Jay-Z 's "American Gangster" at No. 8, Carrie Underwood 's "Carnival Ride" at No. 9 and Chris Brown 's "Exclusive" at No. 10.
