Big & Rich map Canadian dates for 2008

Popular country music duo Kenny Alphin and John Rich--collectively known as Big & Rich --have lined up a tour of western Canada for early next year.

The pair, who are currently getting ready for tonight's (10/30) second of two shows in Newark, NJ, opening for Bon Jovi, will kick off the Canadian outing Jan. 9 in Prince George, British Columbia. The two-week, 10-city trek includes dates in four provinces, and the pair has several other performances lined up between tonight's show and the beginning of the north-of-the-border run. All dates are included below.

The duo recently celebrated its first No. 1 hit, with the lead single from the new album "Lost in This Moment" climbing to the top of Billboard's Country Singles chart. The song recently netted the pair a couple of CMA Awards nominations, in the Vocal of the Year and Single of the Year categories, with Rich adding a third nomination--Song of the Year--for the co-writing credit on the track.

Alphin recently returned from a trip to strife-torn and flood-ravaged Sudan, where the singer helped bring medical and school supplies--along with musical instruments and clothing--to the city of Akon's Kunyuk School for Girls, a process the performer wrote about on the duo's MySpace blog.

"Whether they are abused across the street or across an ocean, all people deserve freedom and basic human rights," Alphin said. "I would spend every nickel I could get my hands on to help these people. It is the worst humanitarian crisis on our earth and it is time we did something to stop it."
