Blue Man Group rocks US well into next year

More than four months worth of dates have been added to Blue Man Group 's US outing, which now stretches into May.

The theater troupe, which has been rocking North and South America since last fall, set off on its latest run of US dates last week. The "How to Be a Megastar Tour 2.1" trek continues tonight (10/11) in Carbondale, IL, and will visit nearly 120 arenas across the country through early May. Two-night stands are booked in Atlanta; Fairfax, VA; and Ft. Myers, FL. The itinerary is listed below.

An eight-piece band joins the blue men for a show that takes the audience through a satirical "workshop" on how to create "the perfect rock concert experience," according to the tour's website. The unique production weaves comedy and multimedia theatrics with music.

In addition to the touring company, Blue Man Group has ongoing productions at theaters in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, Berlin and Oberhausen.

The troupe's stage shows have inspired three albums: 1999's Grammy-nominated "Audio"; 2003's "The Complex," which features collaborations with Dave Matthews, Tracy Bonham, Dan the Automator and Esthero; and last year's "Live at the Venetian--Las Vegas."

The franchise also includes forays into film and television scoring, commercial campaigns, toy development and a children's museum exhibit.
