Sevendust cranks it up for fall tour

Alt-metal rockers Sevendust --who earlier this year mounted a massive tour that couched the late-winter release of their latest album, "Alpha"--are returning to the road this fall in advance of a new CD/DVD set.

Dubbed the "Ladies Get Out of Jail Free Tour '07," the Atlanta-based group's upcoming trek launches in mid-October, and is currently scheduled to make stops in a half-dozen Midwest cities. Details are included below, and more dates are expected.

Tickets for most shows are on sale now, and the band has teamed up with Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) to offer a limited number of premium ticket packages that will include a copy of the group's forthcoming "Retrospective 2" CD/DVD package. Scheduled for release on Dec. 11, the set features three new audio tracks, previously unreleased concert footage, music videos and behind-the-scenes footage shot over the past four years.

Other perks bundled with the premium ticket package include a commemorative autographed poster and entrance to a pre-show "Retrospective 2" listening/viewing party, according to Sevendust's website. Additional details are available at Ticketmaster's website.

Released in March, "Alpha" is Sevendust's second set on its 7Bros. Records imprint. The group worked on material for the set in the same Atlanta rehearsal space that spawned its 1997 self-titled debut, and recorded the collection at Tree Sound Studios with longtime friend/co-producer/engineer Shawn Grove.

"Gone are the acoustic guitars and overt electronic inflection of the last couple of records as the band returns to a raw, uncompromising complexity reminiscent of [its 1999 album, 'Home']," reads a primer on "Alpha" posted at Sevendust's MySpace page. Several songs from the disc are streaming at that page.
