The Flaming Lips plan fall tour, live DVD release

Alt-rocking weirdoes The Flaming Lips hit the road this fall for a headlining tour following the release of their first-ever live DVD, which is due in stores Aug. 21.

The Oklahoma natives will kick things off Sept. 7 in Chicago. The 15-city itinerary, which is included below, marks the group's biggest slate of roadwork since touring extensively last summer.

Last April, The Flaming Lips released their 12th studio album, "At War With the Mystics," which earned the group Grammy awards for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the track "The Wizard Turns On ...."

The new live DVD, bearing the weighty title "U.F.O.'s at the Zoo: The Legendary Concert in Oklahoma City," documents a show last year in the band's hometown.

In addition to the live concert footage, the disc will include MP3s of the audio, digital artwork, and a ringtone application, which will allow fans to make and buy their own Flaming Lips ringtones, according to a press release. Additionally, the ROM portion of the disc will include photos, buddy icons and other digital extras.

Streaming video of "Do You Realize?" and "She Don't Use Jelly" from the DVD can be accessed at the band's official website.
