Los Lobos map out busy summer and fall

Roots rockers Los Lobos have unveiled plans for a huge tour extending from July through late fall and on into early next year.

The East Los Angeles natives, who recently dusted off their maracas for a spring acoustic tour, are supporting last year's "The Town and the City" on the trek, which kicks off July 20 in Reno. The group's itinerary calls for about 10 shows in each of July, August and September, with a handful of currently scheduled dates beyond that.

Highlights of the outing include a July 28 appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Bridgeview, IL, a Sept. 22 slot at the Monterey Jazz Festival, and an Oct. 6 slot at San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, as well as a pair of excursions into the band's ancestral homeland beginning Sept. 19 in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The full schedule is included below.

"The Town and the City" is the 13th studio album of Los Lobos' 34-year career. The self-produced record, which was released in September, landed on several critics' lists as one of the Top 10 albums of 2006. A couple of songs from the set are streaming at Los Lobos' MySpace page.
