Southern alt-rockers Kings of Leon have begun building their fall US tour, which currently includes a handful of appearances with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club .
The band--consisting of three brothers and their cousin--is expected to announce a more extensive slate as the summer rolls on; for now, the group plans to kick off the outing Sept. 4 in San Francisco. Five cities are on the September calendar, which follows a pair of August make-up shows in Minneapolis and the band's Aug. 5 appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza festival.
The group--which continues to back their most recent album, April's "Because of the Times"--announced recently on its website that BRMC would hold down the opening slot for upcoming fall tour. So far three dates with the Rebels have surfaced, including the San Francisco/Los Angeles combo that leads off the trek. The band's complete current schedule is included below.
For "Because of the Times," the group once again turned to producers Ethan Johns and Angelo Petraglia, who both worked on the band's previous release, 2004's "Aha Shake Heartbreak."
"We took the limitations off of ourselves," frontman/rhythm guitarist Caleb Followill said in a press release. "We went into the studio with an open mind, thinking let's do whatever it takes to get these songs to the next level. Because we really have a lot of music inside of us and a lot of different places we can go."
Kings of Leon's lineup features brothers Caleb Followill (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Nathan Followill (drums) and Jared Followill (bass), and first cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar). Their father, a struggling evangelist minister, raised the Followill brothers on the road.
