Briefly: The Beatles, Blues Cruise, Evans Blue, Billy Bob Thornton

Today (6/1) marks the 40th anniversary of the release of The Beatles ' legendary album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," a milestone that the group's website is commemorating an online tribute.

A newly launched section of TheBeatles.com features a multimedia presentation that documents the making of the album via photographs and audio clips of interviews with the band members and longtime collaborator Sir George Martin.

The site also houses photos of artist Sir Peter Blake working on the album's cover, as well as streaming audio samples of each of the album's tracks.

Rockers Evans Blue will released their next album, "The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal of Life Ends," on July 24.

According to a press release, the album "illustrates the blurred line between reality and the 'portrayal' of life that mirrors it," a theme that "winds throughout each of the album's songs to create three intertwining storylines that will come to fruition in the band's videos."

"It will give the fans the ability to enjoy the album in a whole new dimension," lead singer Kevin Matisyn said in a prepared statement. "They'll see that Evans Blue is not just a band you listen to, it's a band that you experience."

Billy Bob Thornton , best known for his acting work, has unveiled plans to release his fourth solo album. Titled "Beautiful Door," the set is due out July 24, and is described in a press release as "a lyrical, sonic story about life and death, beginnings and ends."

Joining singer/songwriter/drummer Thornton on the self-produced set are co-writer/guitarist Brad Davis, bassist Leland Sklar and keyboardist Teddy Andreadis, as well as folk-rock icon Graham Nash, who contributed background vocals to three tracks.
