Alison Krauss puts on the miles

Alison Krauss and Union Station have added more dates to their "A Hundred Miles or More Tour," which will take their bluegrass stylings to nearly 45 cities all over the US this summer.

The shows, billed as "An Evening with Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas," kick off June 14 in Jackson, MS, and stretch through mid-August. The itinerary is included below.

The band--featuring singer/fiddler Krauss, dobro virtuoso Douglas, guitarist/vocalist Dan Tyminski, guitarist/banjo player Ron Block and bass player Barry Bales--just wrapped a tour with bluegrass guitar legend Tony Rice, during which the musicians performed songs exclusively from Rice's 35-year career. They'll revisit that collaboration once more June 23 at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

The summer outing supports Krauss' latest album, "A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection," which offers an assortment of her soundtrack and side projects, as well as five new self-produced songs. The set, Krauss' 12th for Rounder Records, comprises Oscar-nominated tunes "The Scarlet Tide" and "You Will Be My Ain True Love" from the film "Cold Mountain," and "Down to the River to Pray" from the Grammy-winning "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack. It also includes several duets: "Whiskey Lullaby" with Brad Paisley, "How's the World Treating You" with James Taylor and "Missing You" with John Waite.

Since 1987, Krauss has released four solo albums, six with Union Station and one with The Cox Family. She is also recognized as an acclaimed producer (Nickel Creek, The Cox Family) and has contributed to albums of every genre--from classical to polka.

Krauss has earned 20 Grammy awards--more than any other female artist--according to a press release. She has also achieved multiple Country Music Association and International Bluegrass Music awards among many other honors.
