Carrie Underwood scores ACM wins, schedules summer dates

Fresh off a triumphant night at the Academy of Country Music Awards, singer Carrie Underwood continues to back her debut album, "Some Hearts," with a round of summer dates.

The singer--who scored wins for Top Female Vocalist, Album of the Year and Video of the Year at last night's (5/15) awards ceremony--will kick off her next outing with a pair of Atlantic City, NJ, shows beginning May 25.

Members of Underwood's online fan club will receive priority ticketing opportunities for the singer's summer slate, which is scheduled to run into September and includes a large number of fair and festival appearances. The full schedule is included below.

Released late in 2005, "Some Hearts" has already sold nearly 3 million copies. The album's fourth single, "Wasted," recently spent three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's country singles chart. The set's previous single, "Before He Cheats," turned into a crossover hit with a No. 9 entry on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart.

Underwood plans to spend the spring and summer recording her sophomore album, which is due out later this year, according to a press release.

The former "American Idol" winner's "Idol Gives Back" music-video package, which was filmed during her trip to Africa last month and aired during last month's "American Idol" charity special, is now available for download exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store. Proceeds from the clip, which features Underwood's acoustic rendition of The Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You," will go to the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF), which distributes money to other charitable organizations. More information is available at the "Idol Gives Back" website, through which users can make donations.
