Lucinda Williams steers 'West' for more shows

Country/folk performer Lucinda Williams continues to build support for her latest studio album, "West," with a block of new headlining dates this summer.

The Louisiana native, who toured extensively early this year in support of the February release, will kick off her next outing June 5 in San Diego. The singer has packed 13 cities into the two-week tour, followed by three shows in July. Full details are included below. Singer/songwriter Kelly Joe Phelps will open the June shows.

"West," Williams' eighth studio album, was co-produced by Williams and Hal Wilner (Elvis Costello, Lou Reed), and recorded in Los Angeles. Guest musicians featured on the set include Bill Frisell, Jim Keltner and Williams' longtime guitarist Doug Petibone.

"West" follows 2003's "World Without Tears" in the Williams' discography. The latter set received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and its single "Righteously" was nominated for Best Female Rock Performance.

Streaming previews of four of the new album's songs are available on her website.
