American Idols take it to the road

As of last night (5/2), the pool of "American Idol" hopefuls has been narrowed to four, but the top 10 contestants on the Fox-TV show will be back together this summer for a major North American outing.

The sixth edition of the American Idols Live tour is scheduled to visit 55 cities in the US, as well as Toronto. The trek launches July 6 in Sunrise, FL, and stretches through late September. Dates are listed below; ticket sales start May 19.

Because no one was ousted on last week's charity-focused episode, two "American Idol" contestants got the boot this week: Phil Stacey of Jacksonville, FL, and Chris Richardson of Chesapeake, VA.

Following Tuesday's program with guest coach Jon Bon Jovi, the final four contestants left were LaKisha Jones, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks and Melinda Doolittle.

This year's top 10 also include previously eliminated contestants Sanjaya Malakar, Haley Scarnato, Gina Glocksen and Chris Sligh.

Now in its sixth season, "American Idol" continues to rule the ratings with 26 million to 37 million viewers per telecast, according to the Associated Press. More than 135 million phone and text-message votes were tallied over the past two weeks for the latest elimination.

Last year's American Idols Live tour, which featured winner Taylor Hicks, swelled to 60 dates when strong ticket sales prompted additional nights in several cities.
