Singer and former "American Idol" finalist Elliott Yamin will embark on his first headlining tour in May to support his recently released debut album.
Yamin, who finished third in the televised talent competition's fifth season, behind Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee, will kick things off May 15 in Atlanta. The singer's itinerary will take him to 25 cities on a trek that is currently scheduled to run for a month. Details are included below.
Released March 20, Yamin's self-titled debut CD entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 3, the highest new artist debut on an independent label in Nielsen SoundScan history. Additionally, the disc currently sits in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart.
The singer worked on the set with a wide variety of writer-producers, including production duo Stargate (Beyonce, Ne-Yo), Josh Abraham (Pink, Linkin Park), DJ Lethal (Evanescence, Limp Bizkit), Michael Mangini (Joss Stone, Baha Men) and Derek Bramble (David Bowie, Vanessa Williams).
"I'm a baby in this game, and I'm not afraid to admit it," Yamin said in a press release. "Collaborating on the songs with these talented people who've been involved in music way longer than me and who share my passion for it has been an incredible experience. I've learned so much from them as an artist and as a person."
The first single from Yamin's debut album, "Movin' On," is currently streaming at his MySpace page.
