Country vet Billy Joe Shaver --who authorities had sought for his alleged involvement in a shooting--reportedly surrendered to police on Tuesday (4/23), was charged and released.
According to published reports, Shaver turned himself in at the McLennan County jail in Waco and was booked on assault and weapons charges. He was then released after posting $50,000 bail.
As reported yesterday, Shaver allegedly shot a man outside of Papa Joe's Texas Saloon in Lorena, TX, on Saturday (3/31); the bullet hit the man in the cheek, but he was talking and alert after the incident, police told the Associated Press. Shaver's attorney, Joseph Turner, told the AP that the man Shaver allegedly shot had followed Shaver into the parking lot, was drunk and wielding a knife, and said that Shaver's actions were carried out in self defense.
Legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards , who made headlines Tuesday (4/3) for a widely circulated NME interview in which he was quoted as saying that he had mixed some of his cremated father's ashes with cocaine and snorted them, has since claimed the remark was a joke.
"The complete story is lost in the usual slanting," Richards told MTV News. "The truth of the matter is that I planted a sturdy English Oak. I took the ashes [and sprinkled them beneath the tree], and he is now growing oak trees and he would love me for it!
"I wouldn't take cocaine at this point in my life unless I wished to commit suicide," he added.
"The Lost Tracks of Danzig ," a two-disc set that houses 26 previously unreleased cuts from the black-metal outfit, will land in stores May 29.
"Whenever I've made a new album, I've recorded more songs than were needed for the final CD," band namesake Glenn Danzig said in a press release. "The songs that make it onto the final album 'fit' or 'flow' together as a whole. Consequently, some tremendous Danzig songs have never been released, not because they weren't great, but because they didn't fit the overall vibe of the particular album, or for other reasons."
The forthcoming set will be packaged in a "book-like" format and will include a 12-page booklet of photos and Glenn Danzig's recollections about each song. The cover art and additional details are posted at Danzig's website.
