Modest Mouse boasts No. 1 album
The new Modest Mouse set, "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank," sold about 129,000 copies in the US during its first week in stores, enough to give the band its first No. 1 album.
The alt-rockers bested Joss Stone 's "Introducing Joss Stone" by about 11,000 copies; the young singer's third album debuts at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. Claiming the No. 3 slot is "American Idol" alum Elliott Yamin , whose self-titled debut sold 90,000 copies during its first week out, according to Billboard, which bases its chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail-sales reports.
The self-titled debut from Daughtry --fellow "American Idol" graduate Chris Daughtry's band--holds steady at No. 4 this week with 76,000 copies sold, while Marques Houston 's "Veteran" enters the chart at No. 5 with 69,000 units sold.
Filling up the Top 10 are Akon's "Konvicted," Lloyd's "Street Love," Musiq Soulchild's "Luvanmusiq," Rich Boy's self-titled debut and Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."
