Stone Temple Pilots To Tour With Red Hot Chili Peppers

Stone Temple Pilots will tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers this summer. The outing will be STP's first tour in three-and-a-half years.

The band's plans to tour in support of its October 1999 release "No. 4" had to be delayed until this summer while lead singer Scott Weiland finished serving a jail term for probation violations stemming from previous drug charges. The singer was released from a mandatory drug-treatment program earlier this year.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been on tour since last summer in support of "Californication." Since late March, they have been joined by the Foo Fighters , who will end their stint with the Chili Peppers on July 17. Stone Temple Pilots will take over the vacant slot when the tour resumes on July 30.

In preparation for their jaunt with the Chili Peppers, STP will perform at the Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre in Marysville, Calif., on June 10. The concert will be the first event to take place at the newly constructed venue.

Chili Peppers tour dates featuring STP are scheduled through Sept. 22, with Fishbone serving as the opening act through August. On August 5, the Chili Peppers will play the Rolling Rock Festival in Latrobe, Pa., along with Filter, Moby and Marcy Playground.
