The Shins expand 'Wincing' trek

Indie-pop favorites The Shins have confirmed several new dates as they continue to back their new studio album, "Wincing the Night Away."

The Portland-based foursome, which kicked off its current stretch of headlining shows last week (2/8) in Minneapolis, will be on the road through at least mid-April, with more than a dozen new shows added to a slate that continues tonight (2/12) in Lawrence, KS, the first of a pair of sold-out shows in that town.

Although all of the band's originally announced shows are already sold-out, tickets are still available for all of the newly plotted shows.

"Wincing the Night Away," which hit stores Jan. 23, is The Shins' third album, and the long-awaited follow-up to 2003's "Chutes Too Narrow." The group burst onto the scene with 2001's critically acclaimed "Oh, Inverted World."

The album's first single, "Phantom Limb," is streaming on The Shins' website, and is also available as a free mp3 download from the Sub Pop site.
