Metal godfathers Metallica , who haven't been heard from since announcing last year that they were working on a new album with super-producer Rick Rubin, expect to begin laying down finished tracks for the set next month.
"We are finishing up the last couple weeks of pre-production on the album and ... really ... seriously ... (drumroll) ... we're going to start recording on March 12th," reads a message posted Friday (2/9) at the band's website. "We're pretty f---in' psyched about it and pretty f---in' psyched to be sharing this experience with Rick."
The message goes on to say that, for the second summer in a row, the group will take a break from the studio to play some summer festivals.
"The plan right now is to head out in late June and hang out for a couple/three weeks," the message continued. "We might even do a certain festival that we've played 19 times in July that starts with a 'W,' maybe hit a certain band member's home turf ... blah, blah, blah. It's a start ...."
Genesis , which announced late last year its plans to mount a European stadium tour this summer, will cap the run with a free, July 14 performance at the Circo Massimo hippodrome in Rome, the BBC reports. The show is expected to draw 400,000 people, according to the BBC.
Genesis fans on this side of the pond continue to await any word of a North American tour.
Rapper Jadakiss --real name Jason Phillips--pleaded not guilty Thursday (2/8) to charges of possessing a loaded handgun and marijuana, according to published reports. The charges stem from an incident last October during which Phillips and three other men were arrested in Yonkers, NY, after police allegedly smelled marijuana in the car during a traffic stop, and then found the gun.
Phillips' lawyer told the Associated Press that Phillips was in the back seat of the car, and had no knowledge of the gun, which the lawyer said was in the front console.
If convicted, Phillips could be sentenced to as many as seven years in prison.
Tomi Rae Hynie, who claims to be the fourth wife of James Brown , has been granted permission to re-enter the late R&B legend's South Carolina home to retrieve her belongings, according to published reports. Meanwhile, Brown's six adult children are currently in a legal battle to remove three trustees who are handling the late singer's estate.
Brown's embalmed body remains at an undisclosed location in a sealed, gold casket, pending a decision on where he'll be buried.
