As the long-delayed release date of their new studio album approaches, indie rockers Modest Mouse have set up a few new headlining shows, all of them preceding the album's March 20 shipping date.
The short run will see the band kicking off its trek March 10 in Mexico City, then returning Stateside for a mash-up of shows closer to the band's Pacific Northwest home turf.
The group is also planning to play a few European dates following the album's release. Full details are posted at the band's website.
"We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank," the group's fifth studio album and first with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr onboard as a permanent member, was originally planned for release last December. The band canceled some late-year shows to put in extra studio work, thus delaying the disc's public release.
Last year, Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock told Rolling Stone that Marr planned only to be a studio player for the forthcoming Modest Mouse album, but the guitarist found he was a perfect fit for the group.
The album's first single, "Dashboard," is currently streaming at the band's website.
