
Despite 2006 reports that Coldplay was going on a five-year hiatus so members could focus on their families, the group has begun laying the groundwork for the follow-up to 2005's "X&Y."
Super-producer Brian Eno (U2) has been tapped to produce the set, according to the BBC. Band frontman Chris Martin talked about the collaboration during an interview with the BBC last weekend.
"Well, we kind of feel that he picked us, really. With someone like Brian, if you can persuade him to work with you, you're doing well."
"They want to take their music someplace else," Eno told the BBC. "We're really at the very beginning of it, but it sounds very promising to me.
Dinosaur Jr. /b> will offer up its first-ever DVD, "Dinosaur Jr: Live from the Middle East," on May 29, according to a press release. The set houses footage of the group performing in Dec. of 2005 at the Boston-area Middle East nightclub, as well as at New York's Irving plaza and other shows along the band's Dec. 2005 tour.
In addition to live footage, the DVD will also feature one-on-one interviews, behind-the-scenes clips and other extras.
Dinosaur Jr plans to tour this year, according to the group's publicist.
Singer Billy Henderson of The Spinners died Friday (2/2) of complications from diabetes. He was 67.
Formed in 1954, The Spinners scored a string of Top 20 hits in the '70s, including "The Rubberband Man," "I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" and "Then Came You." Henderson and three other original band members had continued to perform together until a few years ago, but Henderson was dismissed from the group in 2004 after suing the group's corporation and business manager to obtain financial records, according to an Associated Press report.
Arctic Monkeys have nailed down an April 23 North American release for their sophomore album, "Favourite Worst Nightmare." The set's first single, "Brianstorm," will be released April 17, according to a press release.
