Randy Travis brings country show to casinos

Country and inspirational singer Randy Travis is hitting the casino circuit in March for country concerts in the US and Canada.

The five-time Grammy winner starts off March 2 in Shawnee, OK, makes a steady run through the month, and then has scattered dates through August. Shows are listed below.

More gigs may be added, according to Travis' website. The singer generally plays a mix of country concerts with a full band and inspirational shows that feature members of his band playing acoustic. The type of show Travis will play in each market is listed on his website

The performer's latest album, the multi-award-winning "Glory Train," was released in October 2005. The 19-track, all-acoustic record is a collection of classic hymns and contemporary worship songs, and includes special guests The Blind Boys of Alabama and The Crabb Family.

"Glory Train," Travis' fifth inspirational album on Word Records, won a Dove award for Country Album of the Year and has been nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album. The singer won a Grammy in that category for his "Worship & Faith" album in 2005.

Travis has also built a second career as an actor, most recently appearing in the January 2006 big-screen thriller "The Visitation," based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Frank Peretti.
