Sisters in the Spirit tour back in 2007

A group of influential female pop and soul performers aim to spread the joys of sisterhood and music on the six-week Sisters in the Spirit tour, which launches Jan. 23 in Seattle and hits 31 cities all over the US into March.

The fourth edition of the tour--which has gone out every other year since 2001--will feature 11-time Grammy-winning gospel legend Shirley Caesar , R&B/soul singer Kelly Price , neo-soul singer/songwriter Angie Stone , evangelist and gospel singer Dorinda Clark Cole, singer/songwriter/choreographer Nicole C. Mullen and singer/evangelist Dr. Yvonne Capehart.

Each artist will perform individually, in addition to some intertwining to create a "seamless band" scenario where music is always playing, according to a press release. There will also be a big finale, with all of the performers participating in a version of Ray Charles' "Shout!"

The goal of the program is to uplift spirits of women and men alike, according to tour executive producer Al Wash.

"While we feature female performers, we're excited that over the years, thousands of men have been touched by the music and have formulated a bond with our event," Wash said in a statement. "No matter which gender you are, if you love good music, we’re going to take you on an incredible roller coaster ride. This is two hours and thirty minutes of great fun every night.”
