The Game charged with impersonating an officer
Rapper The Game reportedly was arrested in New York City last week after he allegedly told a cab driver that he was an undercover officer, and convinced the driver to run several red lights.
According to local media reports, the cab carrying the rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was pulled over shortly after The Game's Thursday (11/16) performance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." Taylor was charged with impersonating a police officer, and is due in court on Dec. 12.
The Game's attorney told the Associated Press that the charges marked "a new low even for the NYPD," alleging that police had been tailing the Compton, CA-based rapper throughout his stay in New York, and that the cabbie was a bad driver.
"It's a big joke to harass him and other members of the hip-hop community, and ultimately arresting him," the attorney reportedly said. "Let's see how funny they think it is during the cross-examinations of this trial."
The Game issued his sophomore album, "Doctor's Advocate," last week.
