Josh Groban awakens with new album, tour

Pop/classical singer Josh Groban , who released a new album last week, will support it with a North American arena tour beginning Feb. 17 in Verona, NY.

The outing will see Groban crisscross the US through April, and hit a few cities in Canada along the way. The full itinerary is below.

The multiplatinum-selling artist took a hands-on approach to his third album, "Awake," writing and producing several songs. He also broadened his horizons this time, singing some tunes that were a little outside of his comfort zone.

"I learned from touring that my fans are really open-minded, musical, intelligent people and I feel like they want to come on this new journey with me," Groban said in a statement. "The music still sounds like it's coming from my heart and my soul and my voice. That is always the most important thing to me. My goal on 'Awake' was to create the music and find the best people to help me create it."

Those people included "Awake" collaborators Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dave Matthews, Glen Ballard, Eric Mouquet, John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting), Marius DeVries, David Foster, Imogen Heap and Herbie Hancock.

The 13 tracks on the record contain songs in Italian, Spanish and English. The video for the first single, "You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)," is streaming at Groban's website.

A 16-track version of the album is also available as an internet-only limited edition on the artist's website and at his official fan club site. That version includes a DVD with video footage from the making of the album.
