The cast of the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel original movie "High School Musical " is hitting arena stages to perform music from the popular TV telepic.
Original players Corbin Bleu (Chad), Monique Coleman (Taylor), Lucas Grabeel (Ryan), Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay) and special guest Drew Seeley will kick off the 40-city North American "High School Musical: The Cast" tour Nov. 29 in San Diego. Tickets roll out on Saturday (11/4).
The stars will perform the hit songs from "High School Musical’s" triple-platinum-selling soundtrack, best-selling album of 2006 to date, according to its publicist. It was the first TV movie soundtrack to make it to No. 1 on The Billboard 2000 album chart, where it spent two weeks in the top position.
The cast will be joined by Seeley, an Emmy Award-nominated singer/songwriter who co-wrote the hit "Get'cha Head in the Game" and contributed male vocals to the "High School Musical" and "The Cheetah Girls 2" soundtracks.
Zac Efron (Troy) is filming the musical motion picture "Hairspray" and is unable to join the concert tour.
Besides performing songs from "High School Musical," the stars will have "break-out" moments throughout the concert. Bleu, Hudgens and Tisdale will perform material from their current and/or forthcoming solo albums. Walt Disney Records' sister label, Hollywood Records, recently released Hudgens' solo debut album and will release Bleu's effort early next year.
Emmy Award-winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega is the tour's creative director.
