Ben Lee, Rooney join forces for fall tour

Australian singer/songwriter Ben Lee will join with alt-rockers Rooney for a co-headlining tour this fall.

The "Fun! Fun! Fun!" tour will kick off Oct. 25 in Orlando, FL. The 26-date outing is currently slated to run through late November, with additional shows expected to be added before the tour gets underway.

Former Legends of Rodeo lead singer John Ralston will handle opening duties during the trek.

Lee is backing "Awake is the New Sleep," his first album for New West Records. Produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins), the album includes guest appearances by percussionist Lara Meyerratken, guitarist McGowan Southworth, Jason Schwartzman, Har Mar Superstar, Jason Faulkner and Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis. The set was recorded in Wood's home studio in Los Angeles.

Fans are still awaiting Rooney's follow-up to its self-titled 2003 debut. The band's MySpace site recently announced a Sept. 12 release date for the as-yet-untitled disc; after that date passed, the site advertised an October release date, and now it simply states that "the new record is coming."

A large selection of behind-the-scenes videos from the new album's recording sessions can be viewed on Rooney's official site.
