About 346,000 copies of Christina Aguilera 's "Back to Basics" were snapped up during the set's first week in stores, enough to earn it a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart.
Following "Back to Basics" on the chart are four other debut-week albums: Lyfe Jennings ' "The Phoenix" (No. 2), Trace Adkins' "Dangerous Man" (No. 3), Cherish's "Underappreciated" (No. 4) and "The Cheetah Girls 2" soundtrack (No. 5).
Bruce Gary , original drummer for The Knack and a noted producer, reportedly died Tuesday (8/22) at a Los Angeles-area hospital of complications due to lymphoma. He was 54.
"He was an integral part of our sound not to mention a great drummer," The Knack frontman Doug Fieger said in a statement.
Among the acts Gary worked with over the course of his career were George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crow, according to his website.
Fieger, meanwhile, continues to recover at home after recently undergoing successful surgery to remove two brain tumors.
The Pussycat Dolls will miss the first three dates of their upcoming tour with The Black Eyed Peas because lead singer Nicole Scherzinger "has been diagnosed with an ear infection which has made it impossible for her to travel and perform," according to a press release.
Affected dates are Thursday (8/24) in Mansfield, MA; Friday (8/25) in Wantagh, NY; and Sunday (8/27) in Syracuse, NY.
