Eclectic New York-based group TV on the Radio will support its major-label debut with more than a month of dates on the North American club and theater circuit.
The US release of the group's second album, "Return to Cookie Mountain," is set for Sept. 12, and the trek begins Sept. 15 with a trio of Texas dates that includes an appearance at the Austin City Limits Festival. Details are in the itinerary below.
TV on the Radio features the core trio of vocalist Tunde Adebimpe, multi-instrumentalist David Andrew Stiek, and vocalist/guitarist Kyp Malone, all of whom also contribute loops. Jaleel Bunton (drums) and Gerard Smith (bass) round out the group, which often expands to include additional musicians in concert.
"Return to Cookie Mountain" was released overseas in July by the British label 4AD. Interscope will issue the album in the US and Canada.
The group's genre-bending sound--which got a big boost in indie circles after its 2004 album, "Desparate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes" won the 4th Annual Shortlist Music Prize--takes cues from everything from trip-hop to doo-wop to psychedelia.
