The Killers go on North American rampage

Just after their forthcoming album, "Sam's Town," arrives in stores, Las Vegas rockers The Killers will set out on a North American tour that backs the set.

The group has mapped out an itinerary that gets underway in early October and includes two-night stands in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City. So far, shows are lined up through Oct. 28, when the band will give a hometown performance at the Vegoose festival. Details are included below.

This preliminary batch of shows is "just the beginning," and more shows will be announced, according to the group's label, Island Records.

Scheduled for release on Oct. 2, "Sam's Town" is the follow-up to The Killers' 2004 debut, "Hot Fuss." The new disc features the cut "When You Were Young," which will be released as a single on Sept. 18, and is currently streaming at Island's website.

The Killers made a name for themselves with "Hot Fuss," which spawned the singles "Somebody Told Me," "Mr. Brightside" and "All These Things I've Done." The album is certified triple-platinum, signifying US shipment of 3 million copies.
