Katharine McPhee , who sat out the first three weeks of the "American Idols Live " tour due to a bout with bronchitis and laryngitis, plans to join the television-show spin-off tonight (7/27) in Pittsburgh, PA.
McPhee's mother, Peisha, in a note posted this week on the fan site katharinefans.com, wrote that McPhee's doctor has cleared the singer to perform again.
"I know this has been hard for everyone to understand but as a professional voice coach I can tell you sometimes the only way for a singer to recover is total vocal rest," the note reads. "Katharine has not spoken for almost a month. And now is time for celebration and thanks for all the prayers and good wishes for her. It has worked, and I am very thankful to realize that sometimes in life, we just need to take time and heal."
The "American Idols Live" tour has been traveling the US without McPhee since its July 6 launch. Organizers announced shortly before the tour opened that the singer was battling severe bronchitis and laryngitis.
As previously reported, the "American Idols Live" tour features the show's latest winner, Taylor Hicks, as well as finalists McPhee, Paris Bennett, Bucky Covington, Chris Daughtry, Mandisa, Kellie Pickler, Lisa Tucker, Elliot Yamin and Ace Young.
