Deerhoof plots dates, adds shows with Flaming Lips

Indie-rockers Deerhoof , fresh off their high-exposure opening duties for Radiohead's recent US tour, have set up a few new shows for later this summer and on into fall.

The San Francisco-based art rockers, who are currently putting the finishing touches on the followup to last year's "The Runners Four," will kick off their next stretch of live dates Aug. 10 in Carrboro, NC.

The outing will include a pair of dates in September opening for The Flaming Lips, Sept. 10 in Boston, and two days later in Charlottesville, VA. The band is also confirmed for a Sept. 2 slot at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. The annual Labor Day weekend festival's lineup this year also includes Kanye West, AFI, Yellowcard, and A Tribe Called Quest.

The band recently announced the departure of bassist Chris Cohen, who is returning to his pre-Deerhoof band, The Curtains. No replacement for Cohen has been announced yet.

"The Runners Four," released last October, is the seventh studio release from Deerhoof since the prolific band made its debut with 1997's "The Man, The King, The Girl." Samples from "The Runners Four," as well as other Deerhoof tracks, are available for download on the band's website.

Recently the group released a free untitled EP of cover songs and live cuts. The digital download is available on the band's label site.
