Jessica Simpson will issue her fifth solo album, dubbed "A Public Affair," on Aug. 29, her camp announced Monday (6/26).
The album's title track, currently streaming on her official website, will be released as a single Tuesday (6/27). Simpson co-wrote the song, which is already getting radio play, with Johnta Austin (Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige).
Simpson claims a songwriting credit on nine of the 12 songs that will appear on the new album. Producers who had a hand in the set include Lester Mendez, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Cory Rooney, Scott Storch and Stargate.
According to a press release, Brett Ratner ("X-Men 3") directed a "star-studded video chronicling a fun night out with Jessica and her celebrity friends." The clip for "A Public Affair," scheduled to debut on MTV's "TRL" on July 19, features appearances by Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, Christina Milan, Maria Menounos, Andy Dick and Ryan Seacreast.
The new album is Simpson's first since 2004's "Rejoice: A Christmas Album," and her first non-holiday album since 2003's triple-platinum "In This Skin."
