Briefly: Busta Rhymes, Dixie Chicks, 'Top of the Pops,' Lynyrd Skynyrd
In a relatively slow week for album sales, hip-hop veteran Busta Rhymes claims the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200 chart with his just-released set "The Big Bang."
Rhymes' sales of 209,000 copies outpaced the Dixie Chicks ' "Taking the Long Way," which sold about 130,000 copies and holds steady at No. 2 on the chart, according to Billboard.
AFI 's "Decemberunderground," last week's No. 1 album, falls to No. 3 this week, while the "High School Confidential" soundtrack climbs one notch to No. 4. Entering the chart at No. 5 is "One-X" from Three Days Grace.
The British Broadcasting Corporation announced that it is canceling "Top of the Pops," a charts-driven music show that's been a staple on BBC-TV for 42 years.
The program--which over the years has featured top acts including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Nirvana--will disappear following its July 30 episode.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has unveiled plans for the inaugural "Gimme 3 Days" cruise, a three-day music cruise that will depart Jan. 7 from Miami aboard the Carnival Fascination.
According to event producer Sixthman LLC, the cruise will also feature .38 Special , Drivin N Cryin, Tishamingo, Keni Thomas, American Minor, Blackberry Smoke, Corey Smith and The Blue Dogs, among other Southern rock and country acts to be announced.
