Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters will cap off their upcoming acoustic tour with a two-night stand in Los Angeles, tickets for which go on sale Friday (6/9), according to the group's publicist.
Set for Aug. 29 and 30, the L.A. engagement brings to a dozen the number of cities that the band plans to hit during the run, which is dubbed the "Afoostic Tour." Pixies frontman Frank Black, who is joining the group for all of its other August dates, will open the first night of the L.A. stand, while Petra Haden & The Sellouts will open the second show.
As previously reported, pro-surfer/musican Timmy Curran will hold down the opening slot during the tour's July dates, which begin with the July 10 tour kick-off in Vancouver, British Columbia. The full itinerary is included below.
Haden will be pulling double duty on the tour's final night, as she is playing violin with the Foo Fighters during all of the acoustic shows. The band's expanded lineup also includes guest musicians Rami Jaffee (keys), Drew Hester (percussion) and former Foo Fighters/Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear, who will back Grohl (vocals/guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums), Nate Mendel (bass) and Chris Shiflett (guitar).
The set list for the "Afoostic" shows will include cuts from Disc Two of last year's "In Your Honor," which largely houses acoustic tracks, as well as "unique interpretations of favorites from the band's entire catalog," according to a press release.
