Beyonce preps for September's 'B'Day'
Beyonce Knowles will issue her sophomore studio album, "B'Day," on Sept. 5, the day after she celebrates her 25th birthday.
Co-produced, written and arranged by the former Destiny's Child linchpin, the album includes lead-off single "Deja Vu," which features Jay-Z and was co-produced by Rodney Jerkins; other producers who had a hand in the album included Rich Harrison, The Neptunes and Swizz Beatz.
Beyonce finished up the album shortly after filming her upcoming motion picture, "Dreamgirls." The film version of the Broadway musical--which also stars Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover--is scheduled to open Dec. 22, according to a press release. In addition to appearing in the film, Beyonce is featured on the soundtrack.
"B'Day" is the follow-up to Beyonce's 2003 solo debut, "Dangerously in Love," which picked up five Grammy Awards in 2004--tying the record for Grammy wins by a female artist in a single year.
According to her label, "Dangerously in Love" has sold more than 11 million copies to date worldwide.
Earlier this year, Beyonce took home her ninth Grammy Award, for "So Amazing," a duet with Stevie Wonder.
