Santana tackles the US amphitheater circuit

After keeping his American fans waiting for quite awhile, Carlos Santana and his eponymous band are finally ready to embark on a major US tour to support his latest album, "All That I Am."

The US trek, currently scheduled to visit 18 cities, launches July 27 in San Diego, and will remain on the West Coast through early August. The tour revs up again in mid-September for a round of East Coast shows.

Santana is currently touring Europe, and will be traversing that continent through mid-July. The group also is scheduled to play a pair of shows in Japan before launching the North American trek. More information about the international dates is posted at Santana's website.

Santana's 2005 roadwork was originally expected to support "All That I Am." However, the album's initial spring release date was first pushed back to Sept. 6, and subsequently to November.

Several guests appear on "All That I Am, including Los Lonely Boys, Mary J Blige, Will.I.Am, Michelle Branch and the Wreckers, and Big Boi.
