Jo Dee Messina kicks off a new round of US tour dates later this week as she continues to support her latest album, last year's "Delicious Surprise."
Messina has mapped out a busy schedule, which begins in Baltimore on Friday (5/12) and so far comprises about 40 dates that are scattered into late October. Details are included below.
Released just over a year ago, "Delicious Surprise," Messina's first new collection of original material since 2000's "Burn," entered the Billboard album chart at No. 7, and spent eight weeks in the Top 100. Sales have been fueled, in part, by the disc's title track, which is Messina's 16th Country Top 40 single.
Messina should be in good shape for her upcoming tour; last month, the Massachusetts native and avid runner ran the Boston Marathon--though her progress was hampered by a knee problem she encountered about halfway through the race.
"I had stopped to stretch, stretching my heel as I got off the curb, and I felt my knee lock," she told the Tennesseean. "The muscle ... was so inflamed I wasn't [able] to bend my knee. It was a shooting pain, and every time I bent my knee, I was winded."
Despite the injury, she toughed out the rest of the course, and crossed the finish line with a time of 5:47.
