After months of rumors indicating that the split was imminent, Madonna and her filmmaker husband, Guy Ritchie, are calling it quits after seven and a half years of marriage, according to published reports.
"Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage," Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, said in a press release reportedly co-signed by Ritchie's representative. "They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time."
The couple has two children: Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, who was adopted from Malawi in 2006. Madonna also has a daughter, Lourdes, 12, from a previous relationship with personal trainer Carlos Leon.
Madonna is in the midst of her "Sticky & Sweet" world tour, which supports her latest album, "Hard Candy."
