Billy Joel 's July 16 and 18 concerts an New York's Shea Stadium were billed as the final concerts ever to be held at the longtime home to the New York Mets.
In the run-up to the historic "Last Play at Shea" dates, Joel told the press that he was honored to be booked for the gigs, adding that he had been inspired to play music after seeing The Beatles perform at the stadium in 1965.
Joel's long set was full of his own hits, but he made a point of paying homage to The Beatles and fellow veterans of Shea Stadium, The Who.
